We select families / individuals for our homeowner program based on the following criteria:

1. Need

This includes, but is not limited to, structural problems, overcrowding, an excessive amount of income being spent on housing expenses, and the inability to obtain hosuing through conventional means. Income limitations (maximum and minimum) are also considered based on family size.

2. Ability to pay a monthly mortgage

Since you will actually be buying your home from Flint River Habitat for Humanity, you must demonstrate your ability to pay a monthly mortgage.

3. Willingness to partner with Flint River Habitat in completing the requisite 300 - 500 hours of volunteer service.

This is something we call "sweat equity", and it comes from assisting in the construction of your home, the homes of others, as well as attending homeowner education workshops.
